Prerequisites:

To get the most out of this course, it is recommended that you complete all of the prior courses in the IBM Data Management Professional Certificate listed above. You should be comfortable with the following topics and technologies:

• Data and data management fundamentals

• Data analysis and visualization using Microsoft Excel,

• Relational databases including MySQL and PostgreSQL and querying with SQL

• Data warehouse design, querying and implementing data marts

• Data Visualization and dashboard creation with Tableau

• Data integration, storage, security, privacy, governance, risk, and compliance

Course Objectives:

After completing this course, you will be able to:

• Integrate valuable applied data skills employers need for a wide range of data-related roles in a culminating project.

• Demonstrate best practices and apply those methodologies through industry-standard processes.

• Showcase your ability to solve problems relevant to working with data that you can discuss with colleagues and prospective employers.

Course Outline:

This course has 6 modules, which are listed below. We encourage you to set aside several hours each week to successfully complete all modules in 6weeks. Consistency will best help you achieve your learning goals!

You will derive the maximum benefit from viewing all assignment overview videos and readings and solidifying that knowledge by completing all activities in the lab:

• Module 1: Data Management Capstone Project

  • In this module, you will coordinate data cleaning, transform data for insights, and ensure data quality. Once the data is prepared, visualization is key to uncovering trends and patterns. You will use Excel's visualization tools to develop initial visuals, spot suspicious activity, and present early insights.

• Module 2: Relational Database (OLTP)

  • In this module, set up a relational database to support more sophisticated analysis. This database allows complex data queries and provides a scalable, secure structure for storage. You will design and normalize tables, define relationships and keys, and test database functionality by running SQL queries to ensure the relational structure can quickly retrieve high-level metrics such as total deposits by region or high-value transactions.

• Module 3: Data Warehouse (OLAP)

  • This module covers the creation of a data warehouse tailored to FinPro Bank's analytical needs. This includes designing the warehouse schema, optimizing it for performance, and ensuring data consistency by setting up regular data loading schedules and validation checks to maintain consistent and accurate data across the warehouse. You will analyze the data warehouse using SQL queries with rollups, cubes, and views.

• Module 4: Data Privacy, Security, Governance, Risk, and Compliance

  • In this module, you will establish a governance framework that ensures FinPro Bank adheres to industry regulations (for example, GDPR and CCPA) and mitigates risk. Responsibilities include setting up data privacy protocols and security measures and performing risk assessment and compliance. For example, you will develop a risk assessment protocol to identify potential data security threats and ensure that data handling practices align with legal requirements. You will also learn to implement data privacy, security, encryption, and role-based access using MySQL.

• Module 5: Data Visualization and Dashboard

  • In this module, you will learn to transform data into actionable insights using Tableau. You will develop interactive dashboards, support self-service BI, and deliver strategic insights highlighting key metrics, trends, and KPIs that inform the bank's strategic initiatives, customer retention programs, and fraud prevention efforts.

• Module 6: Final Submission and Evaluation

  • In this module, you will make the final submission for peer review. You will also learn to prepare your portfolio and resume. In addition, you will receive tips on job search and interview preparation.

In this course, you will use free versions or trials of several tools, including:

• Microsoft Excel for the Web

• phpMyAdmin

• PostgreSQL

• pgAdmin

• MySQL

• Tableau

The course does not require you to pay for any tools in order to complete the required activities.
